Delicate Skink's Personal Tips!

*5

A natural safe way to keep your Bluey "regular"...add in a teaspoon of Metamucil (?) to their meal.

*4

I Use Kinda-vit in my Blueys meals...Its way cheaper than Reptile Vitamins and has the exact count of Vitamins and Minerals as the Reptile Vitamins and Minerals.

*3

When I am Low on Meat for the Blueys, I add in a weetbix (no milk) and 1/2 a cup of...It Pads it out the meal and is healthy for them. Another alternative is Soggy Rice Bubbles or cornflakes minus Milk.

*2

I Always keep a pair or two of newborn Baby Booties handy when Traveling with a nervous or new Blue tongue(or any reptile for that fact), When slipped over the reptiles head (after the initial thrashing) your reptile will calm down a lot. This is good for people who don’t put their Reptiles in a Bag.

RESCUING WILD BLUE TONGUES:
When Rescuing a Blue Tongue Skink From the wild, be very careful not to break their legs...Wild Blueys will Death Roll Their way out of your hands...and can easily break their legs in the panic. If they are in a Pipe or hole coming out of a wall or the ground...try to lure them out with some meat...but do not let them eat it...when they have their head and front feet out quickly, and I mean quickly, but gently, hook your Pointer Finger and middle Finger around their neck and then gently pull them out until their back legs are visible, then unhook their feet from the earth and slide them out. Once you have the Blue Tongue fully out, to minimize stress and injury on both you and the Blue tongue:

FOR ADULTS :
With your Fingers still wrapped around the blueys head Forcefully but Gently, put the Majority of the Blueys body under your arm, DO NOT take your Fingers out from around their neck no matter how much they thrash...Wild Blueys have a WAY higher bacteria count in their saliva than Captive Bred Blueys, and a bite from a wild Bluey will result in infection if they break the skin.

FOR JUVINILES AND SEMI-ADULTS:
Keep your Fingers around the Blueys neck with one hand and hold the back legs with the other. Be Forceful, but allow enough room for it to breathe....Many people forget to do this and suffocate and break the Blueys ribs!!

Put your newly caught Blue tongue in a Dark and Secure place until you can get it Veterinary attention. Try to release the bluey A.S.A.P....Blueys can become tame very easily and can loose the hunting ability (as I have seen with Vodka and my vet told me) If they have too much Human Contact. Be ready though to keep the bluey....It took Vodka less than a Month to Become Fully tame and took 3 months to heal....If you cannot keep the Bluey contact your Parks and Wildlife Service.

I Do Not Feed the Wild Caught Blue Tongue for 24-48 hrs. When Reptiles are stressed, they will regurgitate their food, Also when stressed they will do 1 of 2 things 1.Metabolise the food too fast not getting any nourishment from the food, giving them diarrhea (?) or 2. will metabolize the food too slow causing it to rot in its stomach, and give them constipation and Intestinal Blockage. (This is advice that was given to me by parks and wildlife.)
